Vipers Secure Strong Victory Against Kimbe Cutters

The Moni Plus NCDC Port Moresby Vipers clinched a win over the Kimbe Cutters at the National Football Stadium triumphing with a final score of 28 – 6.
The game kicked off at 2 PM witnessing the Kimbe Cutters seizing a leading try and a successful conversion kick, bringing the score to 6 – 0.
However, the Vipers strikes back with half-back Joel Gena scoring an impressive first try and successful conversion kick.
Taking charge, the Vipers wrapped up the First Half with a commanding 22-6 lead, highlighted by an impressive performance from their half back Joel Gena, who notched two tries and three conversion kicks. Genas initial try stood out for his dash following a well-timed early ball pass.
Although the Cutters picked up their defense in the Second Half the Vipers succeeded in adding another try by Sylvester Bulu and conversion kick to secure victory at 28 – 6.
Coach Charlie Wabo commended his team’s defensive display stating, “The players met my defensive expectations. The boys executed it excellently and I’m pleased with that.”
Looking forward to their match against the Rabaul Gurias, Wabo mentioned, “We’re up against Rabaul Gurias this weekend so we’ll focus on refining our defense and attack strategies.”
After being named the Man of the Match Joel Gena shared his thoughts on his performance and the teams’ efforts.
He mentioned, “I was ready to secure the win and receive the Man of the Match title. I focused on either assisting in a try or scoring one myself while also helping our team strengthen its defense.”
Gena expressed satisfaction with how their teamwork and coordination worked out highlighting his contentment with his team’s overall performance for this game.
Reflecting on areas needing improvement in the second half he noted, “We didn’t manage to finish many of our sets leading to prolonged pressure in our own territory. We will address this as a team and concentrate on completing our sets moving forward.”
The Vipers’ victory against the Kimbe Cutters sets a strong foundation as they prepare for their next match against the Rabaul Gurias.
