Ikiboi Fore Lawrence , a promising rugby player, has recently joined the Moni Plus NCD POM Vipers team. He will be playing his first Digicel Cup match of 2024 season this Saturday 1st July against the Gulf Isou at the National Football Stadium (NFS).
The 26-year-old player hailing from Simbu and Wabag has been playing rugby since high school. In 2021 Lawrences career took a turn when he competed for the Vice Chancellors Cup under the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) Papuan Blacks as their full-back. His outstanding performance led to his selection to play for the Hela Wigman in 2022. Despite being eliminated by Goroka Lahanis, coached by Charlie WABO, in the semifinals, Lawrences’ skill paved the way for his selection into the Moni Plus NCD POM Vipers team.
He was pleasantly surprised and excited to learn that he would be making his debut as the utility for the Vipers. He expressed his readiness to give his best earn the trust of his team and coach. He had prepared well to play a role in the season.
He says, “I’m thrilled to be part of the Vipers family. The team’s lineup this season looks strong. I’m excited to contribute to what promises to be a season.”
The Vipers team and club have provided unwavering support to Lawrence ensuring a transition into the club environment.
He is now gearing up for his first match of the season in Round 8 where the Vipers will take on Gulf Isou at NFS this Saturday.
This game signifies a beginning for Lawrence in the Moni Plus NCD POM Vipers team. Looking forward Lawrence has set goals, for himself and his team, aiming to trust among teammates and contribute significantly towards reaching the finals.
